We just added five new Stachelvarius Orca tenor mouthpieces to our current inventory. Yes, six are pictured, but one sold to a customer almost immediately.
Three pieces have .107″ tip openings which could work for a player used to a moderate tip opening who wants something like a high-baffled Link with a lot of zing.
There’s a .122″ that provides a slightly more focused, slightly darker spin on the Orca thing. The larger tip openings offer more expressiveness because of the variety of ways you can direct your airstream into them. There’s always an extra gear when you supply a full stream of air. There’s also an even darker option in .122″ leftover from a previous casting batch.
This fairly bright .115″ is one of the loudest pieces we’ve made so far. It features our “Vintage American” tuning, slightly larger in chamber volume to target vintage Conn and similar tenors.
